Rick Abernathy, co-founder and former lead vocalist for the theme funk group Lakeside Express, now known as lakeside. Rick is currently writing and producing and yes still performing. Stay tuned for upcoming events. Rick Abernathy formerly of the popular Funk Group "Lakeside" is a native of Dayton, Ohio and has been a vocalist musician, songwriter and producer for 30-plus years. After arriving in California in the early 1970's, Rick left Lakeside to pursue a solo career at Motown Records, under a host of prominent producers, including Frank Wilson, and Gene McDaniel's. In later years, Rick wrote and produced a number of songs and worked in his own studio in Hollywood, Later he toured worldwide with KC and Jojo, and was asked to be background vocal coordinator for the show. Most recently, Rick became a member of "Augie's Side Effect" Augie Johnson had put together a group of four members singing Acapella music at various private affairs, fairs, major venues and awards shows. Currently, Rick has been named, as Senior Vice President of Nu Vibe Entertainment, a new independent record label based in Bakersfield, CA. He is still singing, writing and producing and helping young artists find their niche in music.
